So Susan Rice is down and out, another political victim in the supposedly non political role of U.N. Ambassador; move over Colin Powell, make room on the bench until such time as you are recalled for some greater purpose.  2016?

What happened to the story since then?  Or am I so lucky in my life and evolving relationships that I just stopped paying attention?

So before the elections we had one suspect in custody in Tunisia, another dead in Cairo, an acknowledged militia leader, living the life in Benghazi, giving interviews about how he was NOT involved, until he organized a "rescue counter mission" to rescue four attackers, that were pinned down.

Pinned down by whom? Where? After the very first day there were interviews of four hospitalized persons who were giving the impression that they were wounded defenders of the Consulate. One said he saw at least ten dead attackers. What happened to those CNN reports? The area customs would have dictated that those people be buried before sundown the next day.

A forensic nightmare in a Wild West sort of city in the Middle East.

Ronald Reagan had a similar problem in 1983. A truck, ironically bought at auction in Texas, was shipped to the Middle East and made into a bulletproof truck bomb which drove through several barricades, a guard house and a hail of bullets before detonating in the lobby of a four towered Lebanese building housing both the US Embassy and the Middle East CIA offices. Almost the entire CIA and Embassy staffs were killed. 63 dead, hundreds wounded.

A few months later, similar simultaneous attacks killed 241 US Marines and 71 French Marines at two different locations.

There were never calls to impeach Reagan, nor did these preplanned atrocities become an issue during Reagan's bid for reelection.

Poor Ronnie wouldn't make it through the first round of primary campaigning in today's version of the GOP.

The only thing I'm certain of, is that this latest version of the story makes more sense now than did the original versions, a traveling gunfight to the "secret' CIA annex a half mile away. 

This is far from complete. Th 911 investigation officially took 34 months and even after that, the leads, theories and corrections to SOPs continued for another three years.

November 11 was Veterans Day, a day to remember all who made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf; the Ambassador and Messrs Smith, Doherty & Woods will not be forgotten. 

And you need not have a designated day to thank the men and woman who have served our country in the military or Foreign Services.
